Heritage Banquet 2020
Friday, August 21, 2020
6:00 p.m.
You are cordially invited to the Annual Heritage Fundraiser Banquet and Program scheduled for Friday, August 21 at 6 pm at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, 713 Blooming Glen Rd, Blooming Glen, PA 18911. We had orginally announced on our website and in our quarterly newsletter that event was Friday, May 1, but have rescheduled the date because of the current concerns over the coronavirus. The event, a joint fundraiser between MCC East Coast and the MHC, celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Mennonite Central Committee.
Since 1920, MCC has worked with the church, partner organizations and supporters to share God’s love and compassion by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice. MCC started by helping families affected by war and famine in southern Russia (present-day Ukraine) and now works in more than 50 countries and here at home.
Area Mennonites have been part of MCC since its beginnings. It is appropriate to have the Heritage Fundraiser Banquet at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, home to native son Clayton Kratz who disappeared on a relief mission to the Ukraine in 1920. The dinner will feature a menu inspired by the More with Less and Extending the Table cookbooks and will include chicken jambalaya, ham loaf, spinach potatoes, baked corn, along with salads and desert.
Ken Sensenig, Assistant Executive Director, MCC East Coast, will present a program of memorable stories about MCC and Joel Alderfer, MHC Collections Manager, will share images of local MCC participants. Tickets to the joint fundraiser are $100 and preregistration is required. Follow the link below or call 215-256-3020. Proceeds will be divided between MCC East Coast and the Mennonite Heritage Center. We hope to see you there!
