Workshop: Weave a Cake/Picnic Basket

IMG_5598 compressedCake anyone?!  Join basket artisan Karen Wychock on September 24, 2016 from 9am to 3pm at the Mennonite Heritage Center, 565 Yoder Road, Harleysville to weave a cake/picnic basket. This versatile square basket can be used to carry cake to your next birthday party or carry everything you need for your next picnic.

Measuring 13” x 13” x 8” high with a double set of oak handles, its sturdy enough to carry whatever your social event demands as it is reinforced with oak runners and lashed in beautiful ash.

Instructor Karen Whychock is a member of the Bucks County Craftsmen’s Guild and the PA Guild of Craftsmen.  As a weaver of traditional Shaker baskets, she has sold her work through various shows throughout PA and Delaware.  She was also president of the Penn-Jersey Basket Weavers Guild for six years and has taught numerous basket weaving workshops.

Hope to see you on Saturday, September 24. Instructor Karen promises to bring the cake for the workshop! All tools and materials will be supplied by the instructor.  Because we are soaking our material in water, bring along a towel or wear an apron.

The workshop fee is $55 ($50 member) plus $60 for the materials fee. Preregistration is necessary as the workshop size is limited.
