This workshop is geared for beginning weavers or those who would like to refresh their skills. Participants will learn how to warp a rigid heddle (table) loom, weave a project utilizing several beautiful weaving techniques, and will have the opportunity to try out a portable floor loom during the day. Come explore weaving in a comfortable, relaxed small group workshop.
The workshop will be led by textile artist Ruth Konrad who was given her first sheep in the early 1980’s and taught herself to spin, and from there to knit and weave. Ruth demonstrates weaving at numerous heritage events, including the sheep to shawl demonstration at the Apple Butter Frolic on the first Saturday in October at the Mennonite Heritage Center and enjoys teaching others to weave and spin.
Preregistration is required as the class size is limited. The workshop fee is $55 ($50 member) plus a materials fee of $8 per student.
