Vive La Baguette! Basket Weaving Workshop

bread and basket workshopTHIS WORKSHOP IS FULL

What better way to end a cold and blustery winter day than by sitting down to a hot bowl of soup and a fresh loaf of bread in a beautiful basket!  Join us at the Mennonite Heritage Center for a day of basket weaving and bread making.  The basket that you will weave at the workshop is perfect for a crusty, French baguette with its long and narrow silhouette.  The basket measures 18” long, 5” wide and 4” high.  Once woven, it is finished off with oak handles and lashed in ash.

As part of the workshop, we will also be baking fresh cinnamon bread.  At day’s end, everyone will be leaving with a small loaf of cinnamon bread and a beautiful basket for their dinner table.

Instructor Karen Wychock is a member of the Bucks County Craftsmen’s Guild and the PA Guild of Craftsmen.  As a weaver of traditional Shaker baskets, she has sold her work through various shows throughout PA and Delaware.  She was also president of the Penn-Jersey Basket Weavers Guild for six years and has taught numerous basket weaving workshops.

Please bring a towel and an apron for baking.  All tools and materials will be supplied by the instructor. Preregistration is necessary as the workshop size is limited. The workshop fee is $55 ($50 member) plus $40 for the materials fee.
