(Rescheduled from January 25)
Led by accomplished theorem artist Sandra Coldren, the workshop will focus on learning design layout and stencil cutting. Students will use their own cut stencils and artist oil paints to create a theorem on parchment paper. A brief history of the art of theorem painting and an introduction into the art of Amish painter, Henry Lapp, will also be presented. Each student will complete one design (shown at left) suitable for framing in a standard 5” x 7” frame. Students are welcome to frame their completed theorem in class by bringing their own frame or purchasing a hand-painted frame from the instructor.
Preregistration is necessary as the workshop size is limited. This adult class is designed for all skill levels. The workshop fee is $55 ($50 member) plus a materials fee of $15 per student. Hand-painted frames will be available for an additional cost of $20.00 each.
All materials to complete one theorem painting in class will be supplied by the instructor with the exception of the items listed below under the STUDENT SUPPLY LIST. Students will take home one completed theorem design on parchment paper, along with one set of stencils and written instructions to create additional theorems of the same design at home.
STUDENT SUPPLY LIST: (students are requested to bring the following supplies) masking tape, paper towels, pencil, 12” ruler, scissors, and a #1 liner brush (optional supplies are 1/8” to 1/2″ stencil brushes, a 5”x7” frame)
