Pennsylvania German Feather Tree Workshop

feather treeTHIS WORKSHOP IS FULL.

Workshop participants will learn how to create their own three tier, 16 inch green goose feather tree trimmed with red berries. Feather Christmas trees were first made in Germany in the late nineteenth century and traveled to Pennsylvania with immigrants. These first “artificial” Christmas trees were used to decorate homes until the 1940s and are considered valuable collectibles today. The workshop fee is $55 ($50 members) plus a materials fee of $50 that cover all the needed supplies to make the feather tree.

The workshop instructor is Pat Oxenford, an accomplished decorative painting artist, instructor and author. Participants will enjoy learning this old-time Christmas decoration and will be able to complete the tree during the day long class. They will also receive directions and supply source information to make additional trees.

Registration for the PA German Feather Tree workshop is required as class size is limited.
