Do you enjoy cooking and traditional foods? The Mennonite Heritage Center, Harleysville, is sponsoring a hearth cooking workshop on Saturday, September 29, 2018, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This hands-on class will be led by historian Ruth Konrad who has demonstrated both hearth cooking and weaving at the Apple Butter Frolic. The instructor will discuss the best types of wood for hearth cooking, safety tips, the cooking utensils needed for cooking over wood coals and historic recipes. Participants will enjoy a delicious late lunch created from the day’s instructions.
The workshop fee is $60 ($55 for members) plus a $10 materials fee. Preregistration is necessary as the workshop size is limited to ten participants. Rain date for the workshop is Sunday, September 30 from 10 am to 2 pm. No refunds are given unless a workshop is canceled for insufficient enrollment.
