In this fun and satisfying workshop, you will learn how to make a crocheted rag rug! Led by artisan Cathy Hetznecker, you will learn to use everything from old jeans to brand new fabric, to fabric that you’ve had hanging around for years that is just too beautiful to part with. Students will be taught how to begin and continue a traditional oval rag rug.
Bring 1 yard each from 10 different fabrics, or find an old stash of fabric from home; old flannel sheets, old clothing that will never be mended – just about anything can be used. No sewing skills are necessary. Other supplies needed are a size Q crochet hook and a pair of sharp scissors. The workshop fee is $55 ($50 members). Preregistration required. Scholarships are available, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.
