Program: “Using DNA to Expand Your Family History”

Darvin Martin, historian, scientist and genealogist, will present the program: “DNA is Family Fare—Using DNA to Expand Your Family History” on Thursday, October 19 at 7 pm in the Summit View Auditorium of Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton. Cosponsored by the Mennonite Heritage Center, Souderton Mennonite Homes and TourMagination, the program is open to the public with admission by donation. This program was first announced as being held at the Mennonite Heritage Center but because of the interest in the topic, the program is being moved to the Summit View Auditorium at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

Mr. Martin will discuss what to do if you hit a roadblock in your family history research and wonder if DNA can help, but you don’t have a clue how to begin. DNA research can expand your family tree in all directions deep in the past, but it is important to choose the correct test (and the correct relative to test) in order to achieve your objectives. Find what you can learn from a DNA test as this is a whole new way to think about family history. Learn how to begin this fascinating journey, uncovering the diversity of your ancient ancestry.

Be sure also to attend Darvin’s program “The Diverse DNA among Swiss Mennonite and Amish Families” at the Mennonite Heritage Center on October 26 at 7:00 pm.
